Diriyah sits on the edge of Wadi Hanifa on Riyadh's north-western outskirts. It was the seat of the first Saudi state, founded in 1727, and its citadel quarter At-Turaif is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Across the wadi, Bujairi Terrace lines up restaurants and cafés facing the floodlit mud-brick walls, and Bab Samhan, the first hotel in Diriyah, opened in December 2024. Because it is on the west side of the city, Diriyah also makes a convenient base for Qiddiya.
