Kabsa, jareesh, Arabic coffee and dates: what to try in Riyadh and Diriyah.

Photo: Basel15 at en.wikipedia, Public domain
  • Kabsa: spiced rice with chicken or lamb, the national dish.
  • Jareesh and margoog: hearty Najdi dishes of cracked wheat and vegetable stew.
  • Arabic coffee (qahwa) and dates: the classic welcome, served from a dallah.
  • Mutabbaq and shawarma: street-food favourites.

Try Najdi cooking in Diriyah, for example at Bujairi Terrace. Inside the parks see our restaurant guide. There is no alcohol in Saudi Arabia.
